The Nigerian Official Selection Committee (NOSC) for the Oscars’ Best International Feature Film (IFF) category has introduced renowned actress and filmmaker, Stephanie Linus, as its new Chairperson.
This follows the approval by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) for a revamped 14-member NOSC team, along with the departure of the previous founder and Chairperson, Chineze Anyaene-Abonyi.
The restructured NOSC now comprises individuals such as Dr. Chidia Maduekwe, the Managing Director of the Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC); Dr. Victor Okhai, President of the Directors’ Guild of Nigeria (DGN); Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, a veteran actress; Mr. Andy Amenechi, former DGN President; Yibo Koko, a theater practitioner; and writer/director Izu Ojukwu.
Additional members include Adetokunbo ‘DJ Tee’ Odubawo, a cinematographer; Emem Isong, a prolific film producer; Dimeji Ajibola, a director; Jude Idada, a writer/director; Ngozi Okafor; John Njamah, a director; and actress/polyglot Meg Otanwa.
As the 96th Academy Awards draw near in the upcoming year, the newly assembled NOSC team’s responsibilities include the collection, screening, and voting on entries to represent Nigeria in the IFF category.
