Nigerian hip-hop artist Erhiga Agarivbie, also known as Erigga, has declared his boycott of the prestigious Headies Award. The talented rapper has openly expressed his dissatisfaction with the awards show, citing the lack of respect shown towards artists from the South-South region of Nigeria.
Erigga’s decision to boycott the Headies stems from his disappointment when his album ‘The Erigma II’ failed to secure the Best Rap Album award at the 14th edition of the event. Alleging that the Headies organizers have consistently disrespected artists from the South-South region, the rapper took a stand against what he perceives as unfair treatment.
Sharing his grievances on Twitter, Erigga further emphasized his stance following the announcement of the nominees for the 16th Headies Awards. Despite releasing his album ‘The Lost Boy’ during the eligible period, Erigga found himself excluded from the list of nominations.
In a tweet, the artist vented his frustration by posting the album cover of ‘The Erigma II’ and stating, “Na from here I don take boycott all these fuckers (headies) the disrespect was too much for the south south to take …. If you don’t like us and not going to respect our craft then it’s fuck you and everything u represent that’s it.”
