The Minority Caucus in the House of Representatives has congratulated Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State on his re-election, hailing it as a triumph of the will of the people of the state. In a congratulatory message signed by the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Ndudi Elumelu, the caucus commended the people of Adamawa for their resilience and for standing with Fintiri despite what they referred to as “desperate anti-democratic forces”.
The House minority stated that the results of the main election and the supplementary poll clearly showed that Fintiri remained the clear choice of the people. They further emphasized that the “ultimate victory further proves that no matter how much falsehood, tyranny, and manipulations appear to thrive, the truth will always prevail at the end of the day.”
The caucus urged Governor Fintiri to remain focused and continue his excellent delivery of service, particularly his massive legacy infrastructural development projects and empowerment of citizens, which were the reasons why the people of Adamawa State overwhelmingly re-elected him as Governor.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Fintiri as the winner of the drama-filled supplementary election in Adamawa exactly one month after the March 18 governorship elections. In the rerun held last Saturday, Fintiri, who is a candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), polled 9,337 votes against Senator Aishatu ‘Binani’ Dahiru of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who scored 6,513 votes.
At the end of the entire exercise, Fintiri polled a total of 430,861 votes, defeating Binani who received 398,738 votes. The Minority Caucus in the House of Representatives applauded the people of Adamawa for their support of Fintiri and their commitment to democracy despite challenges posed by “anti-democratic forces”.
Governor Fintiri expressed gratitude to the people of Adamawa State for their unwavering support and pledged to continue working tirelessly to fulfill his campaign promises and bring development to the state. He thanked the Minority Caucus in the House of Representatives for their congratulatory message and reiterated his commitment to good governance, infrastructural development, and empowerment of the people.
The re-election of Governor Fintiri in Adamawa State has been widely acclaimed as a victory for democracy and the will of the people. It is expected that he will continue to steer the state towards progress and prosperity, building on the achievements of his first term in office.
