The Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu appointed Dr, Oluremi Nurudeen Olaleye as the Ag. Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University of Science and Technology formerly known as Lagos State Polytechnic, Ikorodu.
Dr. Olaleye was the Rector of the Polytechnic before the transmutation of the institution from its former status Lagos State Polytechnic, (LASPOTECH) Ikorodu to Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) on Friday, 2nd February 2022.
Dr. Olaleye while addressing members of staff at a town hall meeting held at the School of Agriculture Auditorium, Ikorodu Campus expressed his profound gratitude to the Governor for his large heart for the consideration of his appointment as the Ag. Vice-Chancellor of the Lagos State University of Science and Technology.
He also expressed gratitude to the Special Adviser on Education to the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Tokunbo Philip Wahab, and the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa for their efforts geared towards the successful transmutation of the citadel of learning.
While conveying the message of Mr. Governor to the members of staff, he noted that the Governor emphatically stated that:
“No staff will loose his or her job due to the transmutation.
Particularly, the new University of Science and Technology will boost entrepreneurship activities in the State, thereby further enhancing wealth creation. It would provide manpower for the economic development of the State and the country at large.”
Vocational and entrepreneurship skills development programmes will certainly help develop the potentials of the youths to make them relevant in the 21st-century global digital economy and make them employers of labour.
This will go a long way in addressing the issue of youth restiveness, crime reduction and other vices capable of undermining development efforts across the country.
