Buhari Condemns Killing Of Over 40 Rice Farmers In Borno

President Muhammadu Buhari has condemned the killing of over 40 rice farmers in Borno state by suspected Boko Haram members.

The assailants on Saturday, November 29, 2020, tied up the agricultural workers while harvesting rice and slit their throats in the village of Koshobe, near Maiduguri, the capital of Borno state.

President Buhari through his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, described the killing of the farmers as ‘senseless killings’, adding that the entire country is hurt as a result.

The statement reads, โ€œPresidentย @MBuhariย has expressed grief over the killing of farmers on rice fields at Zabarmari, in Jere Local Government of Borno State, describing the terrorist killings as insane.

I condemn the killing of our hardworking farmers by terrorists in Borno State. The entire country is hurt by these senseless killings. My thoughts are with their families in this time of grief. May their souls Rest In Peace.โ€

The President further revealed that all needed support to the armed forces to take all necessary steps to protect the countryโ€™s population and its territory have been issued.
