Lagos State Government Pledges Cars To 20 Outstanding Teachers

 

The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-olu, during a virtual training of teachers tagged ‘Eko Educators Webinar Performance Series 3.3’, made a pledge of 20 cars to outstanding teachers across the six Education Districts in the State. He also noted that teachers are key change agents who will be remembered for shaping the future generation of leaders.

โ€œThis is the era of technology and it is working well for us. Technology has become a very strong tool that we cannot do away within our everyday lives. With technology, we can think locally and act globallyโ€, he said.

The Commissioner for Education, Mrs Folasade Adefisayo, also spoke at the training and emphasized that the quality of teaching and learning is very much important to the success of any school system. The Commissioner also appreciated Lagos State teachers for their continual self-development in addition to the government efforts in their development.

She commended the TESCOM board for coming up with the idea of virtual training, which she said was a sign of progress of the Education Sector and Lagos State at large. She also reiterated that teachers should put in their best in bringing up the children who might have gone through the different degrees of trauma during the pandemic.

The Chairman of the Teaching Service Commission, Mrs. Elizabeth Olabisi Ariyo also said during the Webinar training, said that the Webinar was a conscious effort of the Commission in improving teaching styles, optimize the teaching profession, turn around the life of the children, and ultimately, impact on the future. โ€œThe platform portends to address teachersโ€™ wellness and wellbeing, update them with trending facts to update their teaching skill, and has had notable distinguished personalities of interest in the public service and society at large to discuss issues,” she said.

The facilitator, Mr. Fela Durotoye, CEO, Gemstone Group, taught extensively on the topic โ€œThe Making of a Great Teacher in the Centre of Excellenceโ€, and said, โ€œAs important as teachers are, teachers cannot be remembered, but great teachers cannot be forgotten.”
