The Ogun State Government has directed all SS3 boarding students in the state to take Covid-19 and malaria tests before they will be admitted into their school hostels.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Primary and Secondary Education, Mrs. Ronke Soyombo revealed this in a statement and also mentioned that the tests is a condition for reopening of schools in the state. According to her, the State Ministry of Health has made adequate preparations for students to conduct their tests by providing the required facilities at three public health care facilities in the state which have been designated to test the students. The three public health facilities include the 250 MTR (which is opposite the State Secretariat in Oke Mosan, Abeokuta), the Ogun State General Hospital in Ado-Odo, Ota and the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital in Sagamu.
The exercise which started on Friday, 31st July will end on Monday, 3rd August, 2020. According to Mrs. Ronke Soyombo, SS3 boarding students in Ogun state must present a Covid-19 certificate showing negative before they are admitted into the school hostels.
She said, “To this end, all principals are, therefore, directed to immediately disseminate the above important information to all SS3 learners in the state and to ensure that the above instructions are strictly adhered to as sanctions will be meted out to any defaulting school.”
