For Nigerian ace music producer, OJB Jezreel, bright days have come and are long gone. The days are lived in hope to see a “healthy day” someday – hopefully soon.
Kathleen has visited his home two times – and in those times she spoke with a man who clearly is faced with his own mortality. But come to think of it, aren’t we all? A cause page has been set up to help raise funds for OJB’s plight but seeing how personal such a debilitating condition can be and how easily any one of us (I am not spared) can be affected & yes failed by our own systems, she decided to start a fundraiser my own page to fundraise.
In her words; For me, there is no better reason to support a human being than the very fact that I am a human being myself. But more to that – no one should be failed by their government (we have no healthcare systems) & failed by their community too. “Be your brothers’ keeper is no clichee” – at least in my opinion.
The prevalence of kidney disease is increasing dramatically and the cost of treating this growing epidemic represents an enormous burden on healthcare systems worldwide. Between 8 and 10% of the adult population have some form of kidney damage, and every year millions die prematurely of complications related to Chronic Kidney Diseases (CKD).
Beyond anything, beyond any emotions some of us may have built up (an for good measure too), OJB is FIRST a human being. He is a family man, he is a Nigerian – before being a talented producer who’s contributions have helped put his country on the entertainment map. Below, he appeals to you….
Today, he fights a disease internally, yet if you think about it critically, we fight these diseases externally (bad governance that has ruined our systems). We therefore gain everything by supporting each other & nothing by blaming one another. Really, it is not our fault.
To me, this cause – like the many before it in this respect – is very much about BUILDING our communities one way or the other, one brick after the other. It is about understanding our personal, deeper needs, giving because we have understood, and connecting to one another because when all is said & done, we know WHY.
So please, I join my voice to OJB’s to appeal directly to you – let us together support a community member… let’s build our community – as we continue to demand from those who owe us a duty of healthcare. Someday soon, we shall overcome. (that too is not a clichee). To donate – click here:

KINDLY NOTE: This link connects to the main #SaveOJBJezreel cause on the right corner of the page. If you have already donated on that link, Thank you so much.
If there is nothing you can do, one thing you CAN do is share this page. Sharing is caring.
Together with OJB’s family and appointed fundraising team, we will be providing information on his progress.
Thank you so for giving! Bless.
