R Kelly has spent his second night in jail after failing to come up with the $100,000 bail needed to secure his freedom.
The singer turned himself in to the police after he was charged with 10 counts of felony criminal sexual abuse against four women. three of whom were minors.
During the court hearing the next day, the Judge set the bond to $1 million — $250,000 for each of the four indictments.
The judge also ordered Kelly not to have contact with anyone under the age of 18. According to the prosecutor, three of the four victims were under age 17 at the time of the abuse, and the singer has been charged with 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse which each carry a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.
His lawyer Steven Greenberg told reporters on Friday night that prosecutors had “rushed to judgment” due to public pressure.
“He’s an innocent man,” Greenberg said.
The indictment accuses R Kelly of sexual acts with underage girls using force or threat of force.
