Arsene Wenger is desperate to win the English FA Cup title at Wembley Stadium on Saturday, but admits Premier League champions, Chelsea, are the clear favorites, reports Complete.sportsnigeria.com
The Gunners under Wenger this season, failed to qualify for Europe’s most glamorous competition, The UEFA Champions League for the first time in over two decades and also finished 18 points adrift Chelsea who clinched the English Premier League title.
Wenger also added that he was unsure whether Saturday’s game will be his last at the club..
“Not much because the pressure was high, especially against Hull, because we had not won the FA Cup for a while,” Wenger said during his pre-match conference on Wednesday.
“We are not favourites, it is quite even, Chelsea are maybe ahead, but it is similar to the semi-final against Manchester City.”
The honours were split when both teams clashed in the just concluded EPL season. Arsenal beat Chelsea 3-0 at the Emirates in September 2016 but the Blues avenged the defeat with a 3-1 win at Stamford Bridge.
“I just want to win the cup. The team has addressed the situation on the sporting side and that would be a good crowning of the last two months. The players really want to win something. If I have some benefit on top of that too, it’s OK.
“The team has given so much and they really want to win something this season.”
“I’m not in that mood. I focus on the cup final.
“I don’t know. It will not be my last match no matter what happens because I will stay in football.”
