Nigerians are the new AFCON champions!!! The match against Burkina Faso ended 1-0. The Super Eagles of Nigeria emerged winners
of this year’s African Cup of Nations in what many have called a spectacular, well deserved victory for the West African nation’s team.
This is the Super Eagles first win in 19 years. Nigeria’s last win was in 1994.
The goal was scored by Super Eagles’ Sunday Mba.
Mba, 24 had scored the winning goal in Nigeria’s 2-1 semi-final win over Cote D’Ivoire. In his younger years, he played for Nigeria’s Enyimba United and Enugu Rangers.
This was an emotional win for Nigeria who have had a litany of talented players over the years but yet have failed to win the cup for almost two decades.
The Super Eagles by winning AFCON 2013 will be representing Africa at 2013 FIFA Confederation Cup.
Congratulations to the players and the coach Steven Keshi.
