Ghana’s President, John Dramani Mahama has announced a ban on first class air travel for public officials in Ghana.
The ban is aimed at cutting government spending. Ghana commenced a three year economic program with the IMF in April and the ban is in line with efforts to encourage fiscal responsibility.
President Mahama has also issued a directive putting a stop to unnecessary foreign trips.
Ghana’s parliament is said to be considering a fiscal responsibility bill in efforts to reduce debt and stabilise their currency.
