Starboy Wizkid has been slated to perform alongside other international acts at the 12th edition of Keep a Child Alive annual Black Ball to be hosted by its Co-founder Alicia Keys and Chris Rock.
This is coming after the success of his Ojuelegba track that received quite a lot of global buzz as a lot of international musicians couldn’t stop talking about the song.
The theme of this year’s ball is ‘Afrofuturism’ and the event comes up on November 5, 2015 in the Hammerstein Ballroom, New York.
The Keep a Child Alive initiative was founded by Alicia Keys in 2003 with a commitment to put an end to the scourge of AIDS and she had this to say:
“At this year’s Black Ball, we will bring attention to the young, vibrant and extraordinary people of Africa. Their future is bright, but with 25 million people currently living with HIV in sub-Saharan Africa, we need to get AIDS out of the picture once and for all, for Africa to reach their full potential.”
The foundation has helped to raise over $24.9 million to donate to children and families affected by HIV/AIDS. Alicia started the foundation in 2003 with AIDS activist Leigh Blake to ensure that African children and families who suffer from the virus would get much needed treatment and medications.
They also provide financial and support to seven innovative, grass-roots programs in Kenya, Rwanda, South Africa, Uganda and India, serving over 56,000 people annually.
