Following rife speculations that she might be pitching her tent with Wiz’s Star Boy movement, Seyi brings Wiz on in “Crazy” and together they make a good tune off it.
We agreed here (olorisupergal.com/review-ayo-is-drab-and-could-be-the-fall-of-a-star-boy/) that Wiz’s “AYO” project was largely characterized by weakness and a sloppy hackneyed pattern in delivery save for a few stand out tracks. We also agreed that he needed a lyrical remake of sorts, and indeed it’s amazing how things have changed in so short a period. Other than a few whispers of ‘Caro’ here and there this one is actually a brilliant Wiz collab-effort. Nothing out of the ordinary but that Wiz Kid originality in choice of lyrics stays spotless on “Crazy”. And fairly interesting too.
Legendury Beats have a knack for making things shine through from their angle, the production angle that is, and this one is no exception. Modified Afrobeats and some engaging keyboard sounds lead us into the pleasurable heights of “Crazy”; and Seyi is there just in time to serve us, in usual style, her sexy soft sonorous delivery. I like how she introduces and entrenches herself on this:
Oluwaloseyi Wizzy beibaaaay
You be the boss
La la la la la la la la
I be the bosseth…
I’m in love wimma beibay…
You be driving me crazy
Boy you’re my lover, you’re ma sweety lover, no need to bother cuz I got you covered….
Minty cool. Freshness. Banging and all that fun stuff.
In all, there’s nothing Crazy does that we haven’t heard. It doesn’t touch on any specific or heavy subject matters other than it being another club hit in the making. But we are fine with it, if for nothing for the splendor of the rumored and very likely Wiz-Seyi partnership which should be nothing short of genius and madness, amongst other things.
Listen and rate, a Hit or a Miss?
