Nigerian media personality, Stephanie Coker-Aderiokun has opened up about her struggles with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS).
In an interview with Chude Jideonwo, the host of the ‘WithChude’ podcast, the media personality and actress spoke about deep and personal issues in her life, including how she almost took her life after her second In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) failed.
The mother of one said, “I didn’t have a period for a whole year. PCOS made me choose IVF. Mine was very severe, my doctor told me it was life-threatening because I even ended up in a wheelchair”.
Speaking about birthing her first child and trying for a second child, Stephanie said, “I got pregnant on the first IVF, but the second one failed. I wanted to stand in front of a moving car and just let the car hit me. I passed out from bleeding”.
“I told my doctor my daughter wanted a sibling and I’m not getting back on that flight without a baby. I called my friend when the IVF failed and told her “Oh, I don’t think the child likes me, it didn’t stay.”
Stephanie Coker who is also a PCOS advocate also spoke about her documentary ‘Where The Heck Is My Period’ available on Prime Video, being fired from a previous job and almost spiraling down a hole, among other things.
Stephanie got married to her husband Olumide Aderinokun in August 2017 and the couple welcomed their first child, a daughter, in 2019.
