28-year-old Nigerian travel enthusiast and content creator, Pelumi Nubi has arrived at her final destination after embarking on a solo road trip from London, United Kingdom, to Lagos, Nigeria.
She was given a hero welcome when she arrived in Lagos on Sunday, April 7, 2024, with excited and proud Nigerians awaiting her at the border.
The special adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, announced her arrival on his official X (formerly known as Twitter) account on Sunday, April 7, 2024.
“Lagos State Government gives a hero’s welcome to Peluminubi_, a Nigerian-British citizen who did a solo drive from London to Lagos. Pelumi was received at the Nigeria-Benin Republic border on behalf of the Lagos State Government by the Commissioner of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs Toke Benson-Awoyinka; and the Special Adviser, Tourism, Arts and Culture, Idris Aregbe. Welcome home!”, the Special adviser wrote.
Speaking to Channels Television upon her arrival, she said,
“I feel so good to be home. Honestly, the homecoming has been so amazing, and really welcoming. Honestly, Nigeria is definitely home to me, so it’s more than amazing. I expected the homecoming, but this has been incredible, so thank you so much, I am really grateful, and I can’t wait for the celebration that is waiting for me at Unilag.”

She had a brief stopover at Badagry, and then headed over to the University of Lagos where a heroic homecoming was planned for her.
Pelumi Nubi, who has traveled to over 77 countries at just 27 years old, embarked on her daring mission on January 30, 2024. Her journey drew attention from the world as she and her car named ‘Lumi’ scaled through the hurdles and challenges on her road trip.
From having a road accident to facing slight immigration issues at some points, the travel content creator persevered against all odds and traveled through over 14 countries in her quest to complete her mission to be come the first woman ever to embark on and complete a road trip from London to Lagos.
