Super Falcons former Barcelona Femeni forward, Asisat Oshoala made history On March 17, 2024, when she scored the first-ever goal and match-winner for National Women’s Soccer League side, Bay FC.
Bay FC played their first-ever National Women’s Soccer League game against NWSL side, Angel City FC.
Oshoala who is part of the starting eleven put the ball in the back of the net in the 17th minute to give Bay FC the lead in the first half.
Asisat Oshoala moved to Bay FC in 2024, after spending almost five years with the Barcelona Femeni Spanish club. Oshoala was the first African player to score a goal in the UEFA Women’s Champions League and also helped Barcelona reach the semifinals for three consecutive years and one final.
Popularly considered one of the greatest Nigerian female footballers of all time, on May 16, 2021, Oshoala became the first African woman to win the UEFA Women’s Champions League, after Barcelona Femèni defeated Chelsea 4-0.
Oshoala has won the CAF Women Footballer of the Year a record six times.
