1. Leap Year (2010) – The 2010 romantic comedy Leap Year was written and directed by Deborah Kaplan and Harry Elfont. The movie stars Amy Adams and Matthew Goode.
In this movie, a lady travels to Ireland to meet her boyfriend on Leap Year Day, an occasion on which it is customary for women to propose marriage to men. A sequence of incidents derails her intentions, and they become even more complicated when she employs an Irish innkeeper to drive her to her boyfriend’s place in Dublin. This is a must watch for our superstars who love a good love story.
2. 27 Dresses (2008) – Although not exclusively centered on leap year, this romantic comedy incorporates a leap year proposal that significantly contributes to the plot, offering a unique perspective to the narrative. In 2008, Anne Fletcher directed and Aline Brosh McKenna wrote the romantic comedy ‘27 Dresses’ which starred Katherine Heigl and James Marsden in the lead roles. On January 10, 2008, the movie debuted in Australia and on January 18, 2008, it was released in the US.
3. Leap Year (1924) – Leap Year is an American silent comedy film directed by and starring Roscoe Arbuckle. This silent film revolves around Roscoe Arbuckle who plays Stanley Piper, heir to his uncle, Jeremiah Piper’s millions. Jeremy decides to send Stanley (Roscoe Arbuckle) on a fishing trip to keep him away from women, as he falls in love with every woman he meets. ‘Leap Year’ is a silent film – a film without dialogue that is audible or without synchronized recorded sound. This type of film existed from the mid-1890s to the late 1920s.
4. The Pirates of Penzance – Also known as ‘The Slave of Duty’, this movie is a comic opera in two acts, with music by Arthur Sullivan and libretto by W. S. Gilbert. The tune “Paradox” from this opera is a Leap Day carol, in case you were unaware of this. Frederic (Rex Smith), the lead character in the 1983 musical film, makes an effort to renounce his life as a pirate after swearing to be one until he turns 21. It turns out that he is actually only five years old because he was born on Leap Day, which prevents him from leaving.
5. February 29 (2006) – Horror movie lovers, let’s have it! In this story, Ji-yeon, a tollgate ticket girl, gets scared at midnight when the driver of an enigmatic black automobile delivers her a ticket that is covered with blood. When her coworker Jong-sook informs her that a prisoner transport vehicle caused a traffic accident 12 years prior in which all of the prisoners involved died and some of the corpses vanished, her panic intensifies. Every four years since then, a murder has happened close to the tollgate on February 29.
