The federal government has revealed plans for a complete closure of the Third Mainland Bridge to facilitate repair works, as revealed in a statement released by Oluwaseun Osiyemi, Lagos Commissioner for Information, on Monday.
According to the statement, the decision to close the bridge entirely stems from the need to enable the contractor to carry out a crucial phase of ongoing repair activities.
The closure, affecting both directions of the carriageways, is scheduled to commence from 12 pm on Wednesday, February 28th, until 12 pm on Thursday, February 29th.
In light of this development, all commuters are urged to utilize alternative routes that have been designated during this period, as access to the bridge will be restricted for a full 24 hours.
“Consequently, all road users are advised to use alternative routes already provided during this period as the bridge would not be opened to traffic for 24-hours,” he said
Osiyemi thanked the public for their patience and cooperation.
He assured that traffic management officials will be on ground to manage traffic and minimize inconveniences.
