Ileri Babalobi is set to visit all 54 African countries without using a plane, becoming the first African to complete such a feat, and setting two Guinness world records in the process. He’ll visit 48 African roads by Public transport and 6 Island countries by sea . At the borders of each Country he will take a picture with the Nigerian Flag.
According to him ” I have always wanted to visit all African countries, a dream stretching back over ten years ago. I had already taken steps towards that, by visiting more than a dozen of them on my own.
When Hilda Baci broke her world record in May 2023, I began to see that I could do it in a way that would raise money for charity, and also draw attention to important causes, while also showing the world how African cultures look like. I choose to go by road or sea firstly because it’s cheaper that way and also because you get to see more of the environment or scenery and interact more with people”.
In this trip , he would be promoting the Border less Africa campaign by the NGO , Africans rising, and also raising money for the Nigerian Red Cross.
According to him ” It’s a pity that Africans have to pay expensive visa fees to visit most other African countries . I look forward to a future where most of the barriers to migration for Africans within Africa are removed “.
He hopes to complete it in 9 months , spending 3 or 4 days on average in each country and visiting the tourist sites and interacting with the culture of each country .The adventures of each day would be shown on YouTube. He’s set to take off from Lagos on March 6.
Born In Enugu Nigeria, He grew up in Northern Nigeria before moving to Ibadan as a child.
