The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and his counterpart from Niger State, Umar Bago, were among thousands of Lagosians who attended the grand finale of the Countdown 2024 Greater Lagos Fiesta at Sol Beach in the Oniru area on Sunday.
Renowned Nigerian artists, including Davido, Kizz Daniel, Olamide, Flavour, Mayorkun, Kennyblaq, Seyi Vibez, showcased their talents, lighting up the night until the dawn of the new year.
Sanwo-Olu shared event photos on his X handle on Monday, describing the #LagosCountdown as a spectacular display of Lagos as Africa’s entertainment hub. He expressed commitment to celebrating more significant achievements in 2024, anticipating more Grammy nominations, business growth, and success for the vibrant city and its residents.
Reflecting on the event’s energy, Sanwo-Olu expressed excitement about Lagos’ future, encouraging continued collaboration to create opportunities and growth for everyone.
The three-day Lagos Countdown 2024 #GreaterLagosFiesta spanned from December 29, 2023, to January 1, 2024, covering the state’s five divisions: Ikorodu, Badagry, Ikeja, Lagos Island, and Epe.
Before the event, Commissioner for Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Toke Benson-Awoyinka, stated that the fiesta aimed to discover and nurture new talents, expose young entertainers to larger platforms, and serve as a mechanism to curb youth restiveness during the festive period.
