Twitter is threatening to sue Meta over “systematic, willful and unlawful misappropriation” of Twitter’s trade secrets and IP, as well as scraping of Twitter’s data.
“Over the past year, Meta has hired dozens of former Twitter employees. Twitter knows that these employees owe ongoing obligations to Twitter and that many of these employees have improperly retained Twitter documents and electronic devices.” Alex Spiro, lawyer to Elon Musk said in a letter to Mark Zuckerberg.
The allegations centre on trade secrets shared by ex-Twitter employees hired by Meta, but also hints that Meta may have been scraping Twitter’s data in violation of the terms of service.
“Twitter reserves all rights, including, but not limited to, the right to seek both civil remedies or injunctive relief without further notice.” The statement issued by Elon’s lawyer reiterated.
Elon tweeted “Competition is fine, cheating is not” supporting the statement issued by his lawyer. This comes hours after Mark Zuckerberg launched the Threads application and tweeted a photo of identical Spider-Men facing off. The last time Mark tweeted was in 2012. We wait to see the next move on this chessboard.
