The governor of Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has given a donation of N100 million to the traders who were affected by a recent fire outbreak at the Akere motor parts and allied market at Olodi Apapa in the state.

During his visit to the affected site on Wednesday, Sanwo-Olu also laid the foundation for a new market building and promised to ease the hardship experienced by those who lost money and goods in the incident.

Sanwo-Olu clarified that the aid was not a political move, and that his government is committed to being people-centered and working to improve the lives of its citizens, regardless of party affiliation or ethnicity. He stressed that as long as people respect the law and the environment in which they conduct business, they will always be accommodated.

The chairman of Ajeromi-ifelodun local council development area (LCDA), Fatai Ayoola, expressed gratitude to the governor for fulfilling his promise to assist the victims. He also promised to support Sanwo-Olu in the upcoming election.

Izuchukwu Uba, the chairman of Akere auto spare parts market, also thanked the governor for his support and pledged that the traders would vote for him in the election.

Lagos takes care of its own and today I returned to kickoff the redevelopment of the Akere Motor Parts Market in Ajeromi Ifelodun LGA, which was affected by an unfortunate fire incident recently.

I also donated N100 million to the affected traders to ease their pains. https://t.co/KHOQlfvc6S pic.twitter.com/WhjZjAsbTY
