Mr Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, has criticized the 2023 general elections, citing irregularities in the recently concluded exercise.

Despite polling 6,101,533 votes, Obi lost to Bola Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), who emerged the winner with 8,794,726 votes.

In a press conference in Abuja, Obi expressed his disappointment with the election, insisting that it did not meet the minimum standard of a free and fair election.

He vowed to explore all legal means to retrieve his mandate, stating that he and his team are committed to building a better Nigeria. Obi called on his supporters to remain calm and assured them that their support would not be in vain. He also observed a one-minute silence for all the injured and deceased victims of the February 25 poll.

In attendance at the briefing were the party’s National Chairman, Julius Abure, and the director general of Obi’s presidential campaign, Akin Osuntokun. Obi and his running mate, Datti Baba-Ahmed, remain committed to a new Nigeria despite the election outcome.
