Festus Keyamo, the spokesperson for the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, has stated that President Muhammadu Buhari had good intentions for the naira redesign policy, but may have been given incorrect advice.

The President’s recent address directed that only the old N200 naira notes be circulated until April 10, 2023, to ease the impact of the shortage of naira notes. Keyamo, speaking on the political programme ‘The 2023 Verdict’ on Channels Television on Friday night, acknowledged that the President acted honestly but may have been poorly advised.

He stated that he would have advised the President to comply with the Supreme Court order, which was to recirculate all old notes alongside the new ones.

Keyamo emphasised the need for all authorities in Nigeria to adhere to the orders of the Supreme Court, adding that failure to do so would lead to anarchy and potential intervention in the country’s democracy.

The naira crunch is not affecting the APC’s chances of winning the election. I am defending Nigerians… the characters that truncated June 12 1993 elections are at it again, says Minister of State for Labour Festus Keyamo.#CTVTweets#The2023Verdict pic.twitter.com/mkj8c0dGa5

Naira redesign: They sold a dummy to President Muhammadu Buhari, says Minister of State for Labour Festus Keyamo. The crisis is a ploy to make the APC look bad before Nigerians, he adds.#CTVTweets#The2023Verdict pic.twitter.com/igxglCO3xL
