David Adeleke, also known as Davido, an Afropop singer, has condemned Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State for the crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State.
Senator Ademola Adeleke, the musician’s uncle, is one of those running for the party’s governorship ticket in this year’s election. However, the process has been fraught with controversy, with reports of plots to exclude Davido’s uncle from the race.
The musician claimed in a tweet that thugs had been brought in to disrupt the governorship primary.
“It has come to my attention that certain individuals have imported thugs and their mercenaries to our dear state in order to intimidate delegates; I would like to reassure Imole supporters and All Adhoc delegates that there is nothing to fear.
RESPECT THE COURT, ADAGUNODO OF THE OSUN PDP!!! if you start this nonsense again in 2022, I’ll cast any gad damn soul!!! WHAT WE WANT IS A FREE AND FAIR ELECTION! IMOLE DE!”
Though he did not name anyone, he claimed that a certain politician he admires was behind the act. He also wrote,
“It hurts sha… A certain politician, whom I adore and admire, is attempting to sabotage our efforts… But with God, nothing is impossible! “IMOLE DE!!!”
Following his tweets, a Twitter user named Babawale dared him to mention the alleged politician’s name. The music star boldly responded to the tweets with the name of Oyo Governor, tagging his Twitter handle in the process.
“@seyiamakinde,” he tweeted.
Another Twitter user expressed concern that Davido would be arrested for making such allegations against Oyo State’s governor.
In response, the DMW boss dared anyone to arrest him. “Arrest who?” he wrote. In what Nigeria? Make them bring me to @TheO2 na.”
