In response to the outcry of the iReadHOPE Campaign as regards their book drive which has a mandate to raise 10,000 books in 8 weeks, a visually impaired US based Nigerian lecturer and broadcaster, Deen Amusa, gave some books in a bid to support the worthy cause, as well as contribute his quota to sparking up a reading culture, which is the crust of the iReadHOPE Campaign.
A team of 7 people including Bolu Onasanya, the campaign flag bearer/initiator; Segun Ayoade, Operations Manager, Wakose Academy (Campaign Partner); Servio Gbadamosi. WriteHouse Collective (Campaign Partner); Seun DMightySnaps (Campaign supporter); Tadese Mapaderun,Ore Akanni (campaign members), Tolu Olutimehin and Blessing (Campaign volunteers) stormed the Ibadan residence of Mr. Deen Amusa on a two-day visit to receive as well as catalogue the books he donated.
The campaign team calls on the members of the public to follow the cues of Deen Amusa and donate books towards the book drive, as the books are going to be given to secondary school pupils across the country. Also, the books would be used to run book clubs that are created by the iReadHOPE Campaign in secondary schools across the country. Less than a thousand books have been raised so far.
The iReadHOPE Campaign also calls on private libraries owners to send in proposals so as to have their libraries stocked/equipped with professional and/or educational books as the campaign needs only non-academic books to give pupils, as well as run the book clubs.
The book drive would last till the end of August. Interested donors should contact;
