Mrs. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission had announced that the evacuation of Nigerians from United Arab Emirates (UAE), United Kingdom (UK) and United States of America (USA) and other  countries will start this week. This is due to the health and social impacts of the ongoing Corona virus pandemic (COVID19) on Nigerian citizens in the United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and the United States of America.

However, the question remains “Do Nigerians really want to come back to Nigeria, especially considering the economic situation and lack of adequate resources in Nigeria?” Nigerians might prefer to stay in those countries where they are being treated fairly than to submit themselves to the evacuation processes made by the Nigerian government.

On the other hand, it is reported that there are about 270 Nigerians who are willing to be evacuated from the United States of America. The Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Mrs. Abike Dabiri-Erewa has urged all applicants to abide with the safety measures and protocols provided by various missions. She also went ahead to allay the fears of Nigerians by stating that all returnees would be made to face a compulsory isolation from the general public on their arrival.
