Kenya To Include Intersex Category In Upcoming Census

Kenyan Authorities are set to include an intersex category in the upcoming census.

According to BBC, an official from the statistics bureau confirmed the news adding that the move will help gather data on the number of intersex people in the country.

This is coming after efforts have been channelled towards the recognition of people who identify as intersex in Kenya.

Intersex is a term to describe people who are born with genitalia, chromosomes or reproductive organs that don’t fit the typical definitions of male or female

The census is expected to take place at the end of next month.
