British Prime Minister, Theresa May may likely hold a cabinet meeting today to determine whether a third Brexit vote will be made amidst pressure from some MP’s for her resignation.

Mrs May was in talks yesterday at her official country residence Chequers with major Brexit proponents like Boris Johnson, David Davis and Jacob Rees-Mogg in a bid to find a lasting solution to the Brexit debacle.

Her two previous deal were overwhelmingly rejected by the House of Commons and it isn’t currently clear if she would bring it back.

The rejection of the deals forced her to ask the European Union for an extension of Article 50 – the two year process for leaving the EU.

Yet, any deal being tabled isn’t guaranteed to pass, with many MPs calling for her resignation although MPs will debate an amendable Government motion on the Brexit deal, where they will have the chance to put their favoured outcomes to a vote.

Speaker John Bercow will decide which proposals are selected for a division.

Boris Johnson has rejected some parts of the new deal and has accused May of “bottling Brexit.” In an article in the Telegraph, he said:

“If she cannot give that evidence of change – she should drop the deal, and go back to Brussels, and simply set out the terms that so many on both sides – remainers and leavers – now believe are sensible.

“Extend the implementation period to the end of 2021 if necessary; use it to negotiate a free trade deal; pay the fee; but come out of the EU now – without the backstop. It is time for the PM to channel the spirit of Moses in Exodus, and say to Pharaoh in Brussels – let my people go.”

Foreign Office minister, Mark Field has said he would support revoking Article 50 if it became an option in the event Mrs May’s deal was defeated and free votes granted for indicative votes while Conservative MP Nigel Evans has said he would support the deal if it meant Mrs May would resign afterwards.
