A fuel tanker exploded at the early hours on Tuesday morning at the Lagos-Badagry expressway between Barracks and Onireke In Ojo Local Government.
Although no life was lost, seven vehicles – a station wagon Peugeot car, one space bus, a Toyota Hummer jeep, a Mazda bus, a container and an empty Mack trailer – were destroyed in the inferno.
General Manager of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Adeshina Tiamiyu who spoke to Premium Times confirmed that no life was lost, nor injury sustained in the accident.
According to eye witness, the fire began at about 5:00am. Fire service operators responded to the scene of the fire but ran out of water.
Residents and users of the road have lamented on the poor state of the road which they consider of more harm than good.
The explosion is coming months after a tanker exploded on Otedola bridge, Berger axis of the state in which many lives were lost.
