NFF Must Account For N1.6B World Cup Fund, Dalung Says
The Sports ministry has asked the NFF TL account for how it spent the sum of N1.6 billion allegedly released to the Federation (NFF) to cover its expenditure up to the quarterfinals of the Russia 2018 World Cup.
The Super Eagles did not reach the quarter-final stage but crashed out in the group after defeats to Croatia and Argentina. The NFF is also believed to owe its workers five months salary. The Ministry has now said that they won’t release more money the NFF until it accounts for how it spent the money.
Since the world cup ended, the NFF has failed to communicate to the Ministry how it spent the money, although the NFF are insisting the money was used to execute Nigeria’s participation in the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in France
