The Police in Kano have arrested two teenage boys for allegedly breaking into the apartment of a nursing mother in the metropolis, robbed their victim and attempted to rape and slaughter her baby.

The teenage boys, Umar and Anas whose age were given as 13 and 14 by the police authorities were alleged to have on Monday around 1:00a.m gained access to the apartment of the woman at Ungwuwar Dabai area of Kano city and threatened to slaughter her and the baby if she failed to cooperate with them.

According to the Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Magaji Musa Majia the boys were arrested by a patrol team of the police while trying to flee from the area on hearing the police siren.

 “When they gained entry into the woman’s apartment they drew out their dagger, put it on her neck and that of the baby threatening to slaughter them if she failed to cooperate. They even removed their trousers attempting to rape the nursing mother,” Majia said.

Anas, who said he was 13 year -old told Daily Trust correspondent that Umar his 14 year-old friend suggested to him that they should go to the woman’s house. “When we got there we didn’t meet her so he advised that we should wait for her somewhere around the house. When she returned we went in and put dagger on her neck and threatened to kill the baby and rape her if she fail to give us what we want.”

The teenagers claimed they were apprentices at a welding workshop and also confessed to smoking marijuana and using other intoxicating drugs.

The PPRO said the police have commenced investigation into the incident because it was similar to the case of a bride that was killed in Bachirawa area of the state last week.
