Nigerian and Arsenal forward Alex Iwobi came into spotlight following his serial stunning performance from half season more like two season ago, but his man of the match performance in the 3:0 win against Chelsea at Emirates last September had him tipped as the possible biggest thing to come from the country’s pool of footballers in recent time.
Unfortunately, Iwobi has been dropped to bench after series if woeful Arsenal team performance which saw the team lagging in 7th position, and from the writings on the latest wall, the 21-year-old youngster could suffer same faith with the Nigeria national team.
It’s apparent the coach of the Super Eagles Gernot Rohr was impressed by the way Watford star Isaac Success turned the recent friendly tie against Senegal in favour of Nigeria after replacing Iwobi.
Iwobi struggled against the physicality of the Senegalese in the 1-1 draw in London, but Success proved to Rohr that he can thrive in physical battles, something Rohr feels is needed against African teams.
Perhaps Success could prove more before claiming that spot successfully, the turns of event is Iwobi’s spot is now up for taking, as it was in Arsenal.
