There’s no denying that there are so many lost young girls wandering without direction or guidance. It’s
easy to sit and condemn their acts, blaming their parents, schools, churches for not training these girls
accordingly. But while we continually criticize, the issues worsen, and so it is on this premise LACE was
birthed; to give clues to the young girl on living life, having fun and fulfilling purpose the Jesus way. We
cannot do it all, but we would do our part… rather than complain, we’ll be a part of the Solution.
LACE, acronym for “Ladies after Christ’s Example” is a Faith-based initiative for teenage girls. LACE is
centred on reviving, renewing and rejuvenating the spirit, mind and body of teenagers through informal
gatherings/meetings/outings.
We seek to raise a generation of young teenage girls who would take their place as pace-setters in their
generation, building ladies who would be aware of their worth and essence, ultimately affecting our
community and Nigeria as a whole.
The first outing which held on the 23rd of February 2013, hosted 15 teenage girls to an educative movie
session. Based on the success recorded at the debut edition as well as the encouraging feedback, we
aim at increasing the participants of the next edition to 50 teenage girls.
LACE is organising its second Fun & Impact outing themed “Dance in Blue Jeans”. The outing aims at
entertaining the girls through fun dance routines as well as enlightening and educating them on their
health, body and total wellness.
Dance in Blue Jeans will hold on 20th April, 2013 from the hours of 10am to 6pm. This edition would
feature a dance session, Body & Image Talk, Health & Wellness Talk.
The aim of this event is to enlighten the girls on health related issues bordering on their Sexuality,
Emotions & Habit, we also hope to show and teach the girls the importance of maintaining a healthy and
fit body for the fulfillment of their purpose.
The different sessions would be anchored by Professionals who would share from their wealth of
experience and knowledge.
With that in mind, I’m certain you quite agree that there is a dire need to lead this generation of young,
fun-seeking and spirited girls the right path. We focus so much on Women Empowerment and forget
that before they became women, they were girls and it’s our strong belief that it’s way better to build
girls than to repair women.
So, let’s do this together. We need all of your support, together we can build these girls.
