A leaked telephone conversation released by Sahara Reporter which allegedly recorded River State Governor Wike’s involvement in electoral malpractice (on the recent parliamentary election), has now become a subject of police investigation.
The Police have requested details of Governor Nyesom Wike’s call logs from telecommunication firms.
According to The PUNCH, a senior police offer said the panel will look into Wike’s incoming and outgoing telephone calls, as well as SMS exchanges.
“Obtaining the CDR shouldn’t pose any difficulty to the investigators because the telecom firms have it on their exchange,” the source said.
“Forensic analysis of the audio tapes would be matched with the call logs, which will also assist in identifying the voice prints of the suspects”, he added.
The Inspector-General had constituted a panel to investigate the audio and submit its report within 30 days.
Wike has already said they would not help with the investigations.
