Former vice President Atiku Abubukar has denied the much circulated report linking him with a demeaning comment on Nigeria University students.
This he denied on both his Twitter page with that of his media office, following serial report which had trailed certain comments which he reportedly made during his birthday celebration organised by the management of AUN in Yola- an academy he founded in 2004.
Popular media reports alleged Atiku had needlessly hyped his own academy students at the expense of the teeming Nigeria public university’.
Several reports had quoted the former vice president as saying;
“I was in the University of Zik in Akwa in Anambra State on Wednesday on the invitation of the university. There is no student in public universities that can speak English in an error-free manner like the head boy of my secondary, who just finished addressing us now.
“When the head boy of AUN Academy, Abdullahi Sani, started speaking, I was thinking it is one of the lecturers in AUN, but only for him to introduce himself as the head boy of AUN Academy,” he was quoted as stated.
Meanwhile on twitter;
A most unfortunate, misquoted statement, devoid of context. Anyone who has followed @atiku‘s speeches would know this is untrue. https://t.co/C5zmbReDp1
