Four weeks after staying atop the Box office listings, Star Wars, The Force Awakens has finally given way to another movie.
Perhaps we’re permitted a laugh since it was knocked off by Kevin Hart’s and Ice Cube’s cop comedy “Ride Along 2”.
‘Ride Along 2’ opened at the weekend with $34 million at the box office as ‘The Force Awakens’ earnings dropped to $25 million in its fifth week of release.
‘The Force Awakens’ holds the privilege of breaking a record set by ‘Avatar’ after grossing an estimated $1.8 billion globally.
Leonardo Di Caprio’s ‘The Revenant’ comes in at number two with $29.5 million in its second week.
With 12 Oscar nominations for ‘The Revenant’, it appears the movie can do no wrong.
Michael Bay’s “13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi” and ‘Daddy’s Home,” starring Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg came in at fourth and fifth earning $16 million and $9.3 million respectively.
