Pope Francis is in Uganda as part of his six day visit to three African countries. The Pope arrived Nairobi on Thursday and is now in Uganda, he is also scheduled to visit the Central African Republic.
The Pope celebrated Mass in Uganda today on the occasion of the 50th anniversary remembrance of matrys at a site specially built in the 19th century.
The Mass was held in honor of the 45 martyrs who were burnt to death by a King.
LGBT activists in Uganda will be somewhat disappointed as the Pope failed to meet with them. Uganda has stiff anti LGBT laws prescribing a life sentence for homosexuals caught having sex.
Pope Francis is expected to speak on the twin issues of corruption and poverty in Uganda.
