Nine men have been arrested by the Lebanese police following two deadly suicide bomb attacks in Beirut which claimed an estimated 44 lives.
Seven of the men detained in connection with the bombings are Syrian. The Islamic State In Iraq and the Levants (ISIL) claimed responsibility for the attacks on Thursday even as authorities work to apprehend the masterminds.
One of the suicide bombers involved in the attacks escaped on foot while the other died while detonating an explosive device. Reports indicate that the plot initially included a plan to send five bombers to a hospital but was changed to an attack on a densely populated area.
