The Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Ibadan today dismissed a petition brought by Senator Rashidi Ladoja of the Accord Party, contesting the results of the April 11 election.
Governor Abiola Ajimobi of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was returned as governor in the April 11 elections by INEC. Senator Ladoja had claimed that the elections were marred by irregularities and manipulation.
The election tribunal, presided over by Justice Muhammed Mayaki, while dismissing Ladoja’s petition, pointed out that the petitioner had not sufficiently proved that the elections were not in compliance of the Electoral Act.
He also cited an absence of expert witnesses and an inability of Ladoja’s counsel to provide sufficient proof of the allegations made.
