The government’s plan to introduce a new constitution in Nepal has attracted public disapproval. The controversial amendments seek to join 22 districts in the southern plains, also known as the Tarai, with other provinces.
Public disapproval led to protests which began last week as protesters kick against the division of their homeland into more than two states.
Angry protesters clashed with Police men, throwing stones and petrol bombs. Nepali police have responded by firing at protesters with as many as 20 protesters feared dead in just over a week.
The Nepali police reportedly shot and killed five demonstrators today after yet another clash led to an attack on a Police post. Nepali Police officials have confirmed that the incident took place in the town of Bara.
