Prince William’s wife Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, has given birth to a girl at St Mary’s Hospital in London today May 2nd, 2015.
Kensington Palace released a short statement via social media confirming the birth of the couple’s second child.
It said the Duchess, 33, gave birth to a girl weighing 8 pounds and 3 ounces at 8.34am local time.
The Duchess and her child are reportedly both doing well.
Kensington Palace also confirmed on social media that Prince William was present for the birth.
News of the birth spread rapidly on social media, with Kensington Palace starting the hashtag #Welcometothefamily to celebrate all of the babies born on the same day as the new Princess.
The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales & The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry & members of both families have been informed
