Nigerian disc jockey Olawunmi Okerayi, widely known as DJ Lambo, has sparked conversation by claiming that female DJs outperform their male counterparts.
According to her, women in the industry often work twice as hard as men to achieve even half of their success.
DJ Lambo shared her perspective during an appearance on The Truth Podcast, hosted by Mory Coco.
She emphasized the unique challenges and efforts women face in the field.
“I feel like women are even better DJs than men,” she said. Highlighting a fellow female DJ, she added.
“DSF is that babe who can actually DJ; she’s talented, stunning, and can also act.”
Discussing the hurdles women face, DJ Lambo explained, “For women, you need to work twice as hard [as men] to get half [of what men have].”
Reflecting on her journey into DJing, DJ Lambo revealed that her father played a pivotal role in sparking her interest in music.
“My dad introduced me to music. I didn’t know he was a DJ until I became one. Then my mom told me, ‘Your dad used to be a DJ.’ And I thought, ‘Oh, no wonder,’” she said.
She also noted that one of her greatest challenges as a DJ has been the physical demands of carrying heavy equipment.
