Why Tinubu endorse former Governor as APC BoT Chairman

The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Lagos state governor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has shelved his plan of becoming the partyโ€™s chairman of the Board of Trustees.
A source within the party said Tinubu has thrown his weight behind the former interim Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande. He said, “Asiwaju is not interested in the BoT chairmanship. He has endorsed Chief Akande, his ally.”
The source admitted that there were two major factions within the APC.

According to him, those supporting Senate President Bukola Saraki belong to Atiku camp while the others are in Tinubuโ€™s camp.

With this new arrangement, Chief Bisi Akande and and former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar are the two major contenders for the position of BoT chairman.
Meanwhile, in a bid to reduce tension, the APC had last week stated that BoT would be replaced by an Eldersโ€™ Council as part of a planned restructuring of the advisory body.
