The story of the gospel singer Timileyin Ajayi and his deceased girlfriend, Salome Adaidu has left millions of Nigerians in their feelings after the sad story went viral.
Reports about the story of Timileyin Ajayi beheading his late girlfriend and getting caught with her head in a plastic bag while trying to dispose it has been at the center of different conversations across the Nigerian social media space.
The sad incident which happened in Orozo, a community in Nasarawa state, continues drive attention as Nigerians seek to find out why the singer ended his late girlfriend’s life.
An interview spotted by OSG on Tuesday, January 14, has finally helped gained clarity as to why the gospel singer decided to end the life of his late girlfriend in an horrific manner.
“I did it to break-up with her” – Ajayi
According to report by Africa Independent Television (AIT), Ajayi, was apprehended by churchgoers on Sunday, January 12, in Orozo, a community bordering the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, and Nasarawa state, after he was allegedly found carrying a polybag containing the severed head of Salome.
Caleb Umaru, the church’s Bible Study teacher and general secretary, explained that a member had noticed Ajayi acting suspiciously near a river. Umaru said the member alerted others when Ajayi threw the polybag into the river, which was later retrieved and found to contain the severed head of the 24-year-old victim.
The 32-year-old Ajayi revealed he dismembered his purported girlfriend’s body because he wanted to end their one-year relationship.
Addressing the press in a mixture of English and pidgin, Ajayi said:
“That day (Saturday, January 11, 2025), I invited her to my house. She was asking me for transport, I said I didn’t have. She now came. So, when she came, she was now asking me for N3,000. I told her me too I don’t have N3,000; I’m only managing myself. She said ‘no wahala’.”
He further said:
“As she stay, she come tell me say she dey hungry; I say make she relax, food dey come. She said ‘no wahala, she go wait make food come’. As she dey wait, her body temperature come dey rise, I see say hungry dey worry her.”
Ajayi said he later prepared noodles and gave it to late Adaidu, before carrying out the dastardly act. The suspect confessed that he asked the deceased to move into the bathroom where he brutally killed her.

Meanwhile, prior to the incident, Timi had shared a clip on TikTok, where he motivated his fans to help themselves. In the old clip, he was saying that there were no village people and that any power should not stop his fans.
