Afrobeats superstar Davido has revealed the reason he chose Akwa Ibom State as the first stop for his Nigerian concert tour, describing it as a place with world-class infrastructure, strong security, and a vibrant youth culture. The artist made this known during a pre-concert reception held in Uyo with Governor Umo Eno and Senate President Godswill Akpabio in attendance.

Speaking at the event, Davido said his team reviewed several locations across Africa before selecting Akwa Ibom as the launch point for his new tour. According to him, the facilities available in Uyo made the decision an easy one.

“When we were looking around Africa, five places came, and Akwa Ibom was at the top of the list. You have a standard facility, and that’s why we are starting here,” he said.

The music icon added that the state’s hospitality, clean environment, and friendly people made it an ideal destination for hosting major entertainment events. He also praised the state government for its commitment to supporting youth development and promoting tourism through arts and music.

The concert marks the beginning of his “5ive Tour Nigeria”, which officially kicks off on October 26, 2025, at the Nest of Champions Stadium in Uyo before moving to other states across the country.
