Following the spread of the pandemic, there have been several remedies propagated on social media, claiming to have the cure for the Coronavirus pandemic. However, the World Health Organization has strictly warned the public against using untested remedies to fight the deadly pandemic as that results in an harmful drug abuse.
The World Health Organization has requested that all remedies for the Coronavirus pandemic need to go through clinical trials before public consumption, including the promoted Madagascar’s herbal remedy as the safety and efficacy of the product need to be tested before consumption so as not to cause more harm. The World Health Organization has also assured the public of the research projects going on to develop a vaccine for the deadly Coronavirus pandemic.
The African Union has therefore requested that the president of Madagascar should submit its herbal remedy to the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) for clinical trials and testing.
