The World Health Organization has discontinued the use of hydroxychloroquine and other drugs such as lopinavar/ritonavir for Covid-19 treatment. This was announced in a statement posted on the Organization’s Twitter page.
The World Health Organization disclosed that the Solidarity Trial’s International Steering Committee, which was set up by the Organization to conduct research on an effective treatment for Covid-19 patients, has recommended the discontinuance of the hydroxychloroquine and lopinavar/rotinavar treatment due to the trial results which show that the drugs “produce little or no reduction in the mortality of hospitalized Covid-19 patients when compared to standard of care.”
