Vitiligo is not as bad as you think, which is why we are creating awareness about The World Vitiligo Day happening on 25th June.
Vitiligo is simply a skin condition where there are pale white patches on the skin due to an absence of melanin. Even though vitiligo can appear on any area of the skin, it is however more common to see vitiligo affect conspicuous places like the face, neck and hands. Other places where vitiligo affects are inside the mouth, armpits, genitals etc.
What this means is that the pale and affected areas are not protected by the melanin; which makes the areas vulnerable to sunburn. However, a sunscreen with a high sun protection will help a person deal better with vitiligo.
